Wednesdays are a "meeting-free day".

To promote focus and deep work, no meetings should be held on Wednesday across the entire company. This applies to all internal meetings, and we encourage extending it to external meetings to maximize focus time.

Why are we doing this?

Although we do the majority of our work asynchronously, these synchronous moments are very important for certain types of collaboration and for us to bond as humans.

We are constantly trying to strike a balance between synchronous and asynchronous work, and we believe that opening every day to meetings is causing strain and distraction.

Many of us must stay late or start early to join meetings. This is just part of spanning nine time zones. By removing one day of meetings, it alleviates some of the pressure this puts on our personal lives.

In addition, stopping your flow to join a meeting is very disruptive. We must continue to find ways to protect our focus, and a meeting-free day is one attempt at that.

Implementing meeting-free Wednesday

We encourage everyone to block your Wednesday calendar as "busy".

If a teammate schedules or asks for a call, you can try to:

  • Ask to reschedule for another day
  • Ask for a recording instead
